DOES ATTENDANCE AFFECT YOUR CHANCES OF ACHIEVING 5 GOOD GCSEs?
Yes it does. This should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to take students out of school for holidays during term time (or thinking about whether a regular ‘odd day off’ matters).
Listed below are not estimates but statistical facts about how your percentage attendance affects your chances of completing your time at school with at least five good GCSE passes.
If your attendance is 95.1% – 100% your chances are 69.4%.
If your attendance is 90.1% – 95% your chances reduce to 51.2%.
If your attendance is between 85.1% – 90% your chances reduce to 28.2%.
Just taking 10 days holiday in term time mean that your maximum attendance can only be 95%.
Therefore taking ‘A day off every couple of weeks’ means that your maximum attendance can only be 90%.
