We are delighted that colleagues from Applemore College, Orchard Infant School, Orchard Junior School, Marchwood Junior School, Noadswood School and Waterside Primary will be coming together to host a fantastic day of CPD. We are excited to be welcome colleagues from other local schools to share in this day with us.
This will be hosted across 3 sites- Noadswood School, Orchard Junior School and Orchard Infant School. Venues to be confirmed in April.

Tom Sherrington
Tom Sherrington is an experienced former Headteacher and teacher and, has worked in schools for 30 years. Through his consultancy – teacherhead consulting – he is interested in working with teachers and school leaders to explore and implement contemporary educational ideas that help us deliver an excellent all-round education for all young people.

John Tomsett:
John Tomsett is a nationally renowned school leader supporting schools to improve the quality of teaching and learning. John Tomsett taught for 33 years in state schools and was a teaching headteacher for 18 years. Until August 2021 he led Huntington School in York. He writes a blog called "This Much I Know", and has written extensively about school leadership. He has previously published five books: "Love over Fear: Creating a Culture for Truly Great Teaching"; "Mind Over Matter: Improving Mental Health in our Schools"; "Putting Staff First: A Blueprint for Revitalising our Schools" (with Jonny Uttley); "An Angler’s Journal"; and "Cognitive Apprenticeship in Action" (editor). His latest book is co-authored with Mary Myatt and is called "Huh: curriculum conversations between subject and senior leaders". He maintains that the best thing for our students is that our teachers are happy, healthy, well-qualified, highly motivated, hard-working, well-trained experts; consequently, he believes we should put staff first. He is now engaged in supporting the next generation of school leaders, with a resolute focus upon improving the quality of teaching & learning, and developing the school curriculum.

Amjad Ali:
Amjad (@TeachLeadAAli) is a teacher, trainer, TEDx speaker and Senior Leader. He currently works four days a week in a start up secondary school and offers CPD/INSET on his other day. Amjad has spent his teaching career working in challenging, diverse schools. He is a qualified SENDCO and was also trained as an Advanced Skills Teacher in Teaching and Learning. Before stepping into the world of education, he spent time as Play Worker and Teaching Assistant in Young Offender Prisons.
Amjad has delivered CPD to all sectors in education from Early Careers teachers to Executive/Head Teachers and CEOs; delivering on a range of topics, all across the United Kingdom and different parts of the world. He has worked with over 250 schools and 1000s of students.

Kate Jones:
Kate is a Teacher of Humanities, History specialist and teacher of Politics. She has achieved SSAT Lead Practitioner. Former GCSE examiner. Writer, blogger and award winning international educational speaker and presenter. She has written 3 books on Retrieval Practice and is recognised internationally for her work in this area.

Mike Armiger:
Mike works within many areas but particularly; SEMH, young people affected by trauma and emotional distress, care experienced children, suicide prevention and sport. A former Head of educational provisions specifically for young people affected by trauma, care experienced children and children with SEND and mental health needs. He also works with universities on models and approaches to student well-being.
Mike also advises on creation of specialist care & education provisions, trains nationally and internationally and is the author of the Regulation framework- A whole school system and support planning framework for young people affected by trauma. This has now been adopted by health and education teams in 5 European countries.
